NASA recently approved the LASIK technology and procedure used at Optical Express for use on astronauts.
Dr. Lawrence Wood
MD
Dr. Wood was born in New York, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Hunter College in 1972 and was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN in May of 1979. He completed his Ophthalmology training at the Naval Medical Center in 1988.
Dr. Wood entered military service in 1982 and successfully transitioned to private practice in February of 2007, as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. He held the rank of Captain in the United States Navy Medical Corps. His specialized training in ophthalmology includes certification to perform VISX and Allegretto laser vision correction, as well as, Intralase certification.
Twice every year, Dr. Wood attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world's most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Dr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, Professor Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon, and Mr. Jeffery Machat.
Dr. Wood, has surgical expertise in Corneal Refractive Surgery, including Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK) and Laser-Assisted in-Situ Keratectomy (LASIK). He also performs pterygium, eye muscle surgery and laser procedures for glaucoma and diabetes. He is consulted on problems and diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, including dry eye, blepharitis, contact lens-related problems, and ocular infections. Dr. Wood is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
